About Me

I model the DL&W in O scale, 3 rail right now, but going to 2 rail. I have a carbon copy 4-6-2 pacific made by weaver models as #1134, a lionel 2-6-0 mogul as #522, and a 2-8-0  from weaver models as #799. My first 2 rail model will be the new blueprint brass pocono that weaver models had made. I also have a weaver models GP38-2 in lackawanna paint as #2004. I am a member of the east stroudsburg railroad tower, and want to help preserve the history of the greatest railroad on the east coast.

About Me

Worked for Steamtown USA  in the 1980's as firemen helper on a diesel.  Had the  honor of working with alot  of former "Lackawanna Men", most remembered is George Karabin, who was employed by the Lackawanna and Erie Lackawanna RR for 46 years.  Loved the Lackawanna RR since I was a young boy. Have many Lionel DL&W trains along with manuals and many other items dealing with the DL&W and Lackawanna RR. Have lived in the Allentown, Pa. area for 63 years.  I believe we should preserve the past years of railroading, but also look to the future, too. Would love to chat with anyone about the DL&W or railroading in general.

About Me

I am a Southern Baptist preacher in the railroad town of Aquadale, NC. I enjoy the lonesome whistle of engines as they pass through the night in our rural village. I live just south of Spencer, NC which has a long history of Southern Railway trains. I also enjoy model railroading. I am married and have a black and white poodle dog.

About Me

I love steam locomotives and remember the DL&W going by my house in Delawanna NJ. I still can remember the smell in the air of the carbons in the smoke, it left a residue in the air for a while after going thru town.

The best part was when they were delivering cars in the sidings, I got to talk with the crew and watch how delicately they would couple and uncouple the cars.

What a great time in railroad history.

About Me

Childhood spent in Towaco, NJ, alongside the Boonton Line of the Lackawanna - saw (and rode behind) many 1100 series locomotives. Am a confirmed "steam buff;" and will go out of my way to find steam-powered railroads any time I travel.Am thrilled to discover an actual DLW steamer still in existance - have always thought it is a shame Steamtown does not have one of  the larger Lackawanna  steamers and one has to ride behind a Canadian loco!

i am a retired RN and in 1977, in a Nursing Home, met an 89-year-old retired DLW engineer - he informed me that he had a daily freight run on the Boonton Line every weekday morning, and used to look for "the little girl with the black curly hair" walking along the trackside highway on her way to school. We were both thrilled to realize that was ME!

About Me
I have been involved in steam locomotive boiler repairs and complete operating restorations with my company Diversified Rail Services over the past 32 years on many of the larger locos around the country. I started with a mimeographed copy of the Steam Loco Directory of North America ( the original - before J. David's great update and reprint) and planned many weekend steam safari's from that book and many David P. Morgan TRAINS articles. I've been able to see over half the engines in the directory. The first steamer I ever saw running was the NKP 759 in May, 1969 when it came through my back yard in St. Marys, Ohio on it's return from the Golden Spike Centennial. I've travelled overseas seeking knowledge on steam technology and learning what the rest of the world coninued to do after America quit in the 1950's. I met Livio Dante Porta in 1984 on the ACE 3000 project and conntinued many studies under his gracious encouragement until his passing in 2004. I am excited to encourage any new steam restoration projects. The world is a better place when another steam locomotive is restored to operation.
