About Me
I have been involved in steam locomotive boiler repairs and complete operating restorations with my company Diversified Rail Services over the past 32 years on many of the larger locos around the country. I started with a mimeographed copy of the Steam Loco Directory of North America ( the original - before J. David's great update and reprint) and planned many weekend steam safari's from that book and many David P. Morgan TRAINS articles. I've been able to see over half the engines in the directory. The first steamer I ever saw running was the NKP 759 in May, 1969 when it came through my back yard in St. Marys, Ohio on it's return from the Golden Spike Centennial.
I've travelled overseas seeking knowledge on steam technology and learning what the rest of the world coninued to do after America quit in the 1950's. I met Livio Dante Porta in 1984 on the ACE 3000 project and conntinued many studies under his gracious encouragement until his passing in 2004. I am excited to encourage any new steam restoration projects. The world is a better place when another steam locomotive is restored to operation.
